Malacolla is a natural combination of Chrysocolla and Malachite, bringing together shades of blue, turquoise and green in one mineral specimen.

These pieces have been partially polished while leaving areas of the original surface exposed, allowing you to see the contrast between the material in its more natural state and the colour and pattern revealed through polishing.

Traditionally, Chrysocolla is associated with communication, calm and self-expression, while Malachite is associated with transformation, courage and protection. Together, Malacolla is often chosen when navigating change while wanting to communicate with greater clarity and consideration.

Each piece varies naturally in colour, mineral distribution, shape and pattern.

Choose by colour balance and form.

Because Malacolla contains both Chrysocolla and Malachite, every piece has a different distribution of blue, turquoise and green. Some pieces show more Chrysocolla, while others are visually dominated by Malachite.

Look at the individual photographs and choose according to the mineral pattern and colour combination you are most drawn to.

The pieces also vary in shape — some have a more defined point while others have a flatter, slice-like form.

Keep your Malacolla somewhere you can appreciate both its colour and its contrasting raw and polished surfaces — on a desk, shelf, bedside table or in a meditation space.

For those who work with traditional crystal properties, the combination of Chrysocolla and Malachite is often associated with expressing what is held in the heart — bringing together communication and transformation.

What makes Malacolla interesting to me is the relationship between the two minerals.

You have the blue and turquoise tones of Chrysocolla running alongside the distinctive greens of Malachite, and the balance is different in every piece.

I particularly like these half-polished forms because you can see two sides of the material — its more natural surface and what is revealed once part of it has been polished.

“Malacolla” is a trade name used for material containing both Malachite and Chrysocolla rather than the name of a separate mineral species.

Both minerals are copper-bearing, which is responsible for their striking colours — Malachite producing characteristic greens and Chrysocolla typically appearing blue to blue-green.

Malacolla should be handled with care due to the relative softness and natural structure of both Chrysocolla and Malachite.

Keep away from prolonged contact with water, acids, household cleaning products and abrasive surfaces. Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth.

Take additional care around natural edges and pointed areas, which may chip if dropped or knocked against a hard surface.

Do not use Malacolla to prepare crystal-infused drinking water.

Crystals should never be used to replace proper medical treatment or used in lieu of seeking professional medical help.  Crystals are should not be used for children under 3 years old or pet without supervision.
